Celia Birtwell Limited Special Edition.

To celebrate the launch of Celia Birtwell’s long-awaited memoir, we will be releasing a limited special edition of 250 copies. The cloth covered box houses a copy of Celia Birtwell and a bespoke scarf designed by Celia.

If you didn’t know it already, Celia Birtwell is iconic. She has long dominated the global arts scene and her joyful prints adorn the homes and wardrobes of both young and old. If it’s in at TopShop it’s in everywhere!

This lavish, multi-layered book is a balanced insight into the professional and personal life of one of Britain’s best-known and best-loved designers. Artistic minds are given plenty of nourishment with examples of her fashion and home fabrics. After all, it is those prints that we so desperately crave. However, what makes this book so irresistible is the feeling of intimacy you get when flicking through it. With pages embellished with Celia’s own drawings and charmingly idiosyncratic fashion sketches you may feel as though you’ve secretly stumbled across her very own intricate scrapbook.

The photographs of family and friends, taken from her own archive and album, showcase the journey that took Celia from her home in Manchester through to London. Prepare to feel perhaps slightly envious when re-living her bohemian 60s and 70s alongside such colourful companions as Manolo Blanik, Paloma Picasso and the Beatles.  Well, did you expect anything less from a true darling of the “in” crowd? In addition to Celia’s own personal touches, David Hockney beautifully illustrates their on-going relationship through  his photographs, drawings and paintings of her, including the sketches that led to the widely adored Mr & Mrs Clark and Percy painting.

The opportunity to take a look at the incredible and vivid life of one of the nations favourite designers and to also own one of her infamous pieces makes Celia, as always, iressistible.
